Thinking of raising your salon prices?

With business costs soaring I asked my good friend and client, Raymond Bottone of MySalonManager, for his practical tips. And this is what he shared…

Small changes. Big impact.

Sometimes, it’s not about charging more – it’s about making sure you’re not giving money away.

Boost your margins (without necessarily raising prices) by spotting these 5 sneaky ‘profit robbers’ that quietly eat into your earnings:

#1. Extra time on services

If a treatment is booked for an hour but regularly takes 75 minutes, that’s unpaid time. Over a week, those extra minutes add up fast.

#2. No-shows and last-minute cancellations

A solid cancellation policy and deposits can seriously cut down on lost income.

I walk you through the simple, actionable steps you can take to reduce late cancellations and no-shows in this blog.

#3. Product wastage

Over-mixing colour or using too much skincare product? Small changes in how your team dispenses and measures can add up to a surprising amount.

#4. Low-value services filling the diary

If your team is booked up with quick, lower-priced services like blow-dries instead of higher value treatments like cuts or colour, you’re capping your earning potential.

#5. Gaps between appointments

A few minutes here and there might not seem like much, but they add up fast, explains Raymond. Smart scheduling can make a real difference.

I look at how much it really costs you and how to quickly and easily fix it in this blog.

By tightening up these areas, you can protect your profits. And if you do raise prices, these changes will help that increase go even further.
